Jared stayed home from school yesterday because his ears were hurting him. This morning he woke up and seemed fine and said his ears didn't hurt so I sent him to school. Today was his swim day so I sent a note that he shouldn't swim and they called me to pick him up before swim lessons. When I picked him up he said his ears where hurting again. I took him to the clinic about 12:45 and they said it is lunch time so I had to come back at 2pm. TIA(This is Angola) :-) We went back about 2 and by this time he had fever and the doctor said he had a double ear infection. They gave him antibiotics and when I got home to give it to him it was only powder with Portuguese instructions. Katie was able to help me figure out how much water to add.
On top of checking his ears since he had fever they did a malaria test. This was Jared's second malaria test to have since we have lived here. The first time he had one he started crying before they even pricked his finger. This time the doctor asked if he was ok and he said, "Yeah I have had this before, it doesn't hurt". It's a little weird for me that my 5 year old knows the procedure for a malaria test, when 6 months ago they had never heard of malaria.
