I noticed a few times from the boys bus driver, Junior, but never thought much about it until I started to notice more and more Angolans doing it. In America if you are talking to someone and you feel the need to pick your nose you would either kindly excuse yourself or grab a kleenex.....not here! You can be having a conversation and they will have their finger up their nose the entire time. I try not to just stare but how can you not. It's not just a little bit either...it is all the way in their nose and twisting around. I have yet to see anything come out with their finger but still. I just want to ask them if they need a hanky. :-)
The second thing I have noticed is how easy it is for them to ask for your trash. Stuff that I would normally throw away now I just sit by the trash can because I know the maid will want it. I never throw out used oil anymore because Armenda always takes it home with her. Anything that is broke she will take. The other day I had an iron that was broke and would not hold water so I told her it was trash and she immediately asked if she could have it. Kenny had a bunch of containers from tennis balls and she took them. Left overs never go to waste here because the maid, garden or driver will always eat them for lunch the next day.
