We went to Mussulo beach, here in Luanda, today. It is about a 15 minute drive and then a 10 minute boat ride over to the island. I sent Kenny and Baptista to find a boat and driver and negotiate a price while the boys and I stayed in the car. The process can sometimes be a little overwhelming because you suddenly have lots of Amigo's(friends) that want to take you across on their boat. :-) When Kenny came back to the car there where three guys following him and our driver. He wasn't real sure which one was our boat driver but was ready to go. Once we got down to the boats they were still arguing over which one would take us. Kenny was getting a little mad and finally yelled, "Amigo PARA"(friend STOP). I have never seen Kenny react this way around Angolans, but I could tell he was getting irritated. He is usually the one telling me to calm down. I told him there was another guy that was in his boat and he was not begging us and his boat look pretty nice as well. Kenny asked Baptista what we should do and he said go with the guy in his boat. Our decision paid off...it was half price of what the others guys were going to charge us and he was very nice.
This is the area that you park and get on the boat. It is a very busy area...you can get food, drinks, clothes or even a haircut (Angolans can get this stuff...I wouldn't).
Jacob ready to go to the beach.
Jared ready to go.
These boys are the best thing that has ever happened to me.
Jacob took our picture.
The water was a little chilly and there was a pretty bad current but they still had fun.
The restaurant.
Of course there were locals selling stuff and of course I got something. :-)
Three of my favorite boys!!!!!!
Since we didn't swim much we built sand castles. This was Jared's and mine.
Jacob wanted to build his own and he did a GREAT job!! His had a bridge that the water could run under.
Since we wrote their names in the sand at Turtle Beach the boys decided we needed to do it at Mussulo too.
Jacob with his name being silly!!
These are the boats you rode on to the beach. They charged us 2000 kwz ($20.00) over and 2000 kwz back.
Jacob on the ride over to the beach.
Jared and me in the boat.
