Friday-1st Day of Vacation-Cape Town South Africa

Friday we left the house about 5am and got to Luanda Airport about 5:30 and made it through security and visited with our friends until it was time to board the plane about 7am. We left at 8 and made it to Cape Town about 12pm. They are 1 hour ahead of us in South Africa. Once we got our luggage we stopped to exchange money from US dollars to Rands. It is about 7.5R to $1. As soon as we started driving in the taxi from the airport Jacob said this place is so much better than Africa. I told him that we are still in Africa and he said, "Well this Africa is better than ours". We got checked into our apartment and then we walked to the waterfront for lunch. We ate at an Italian place and had to have them put a heater by our table because it was so cold. Probably in the lower 60's our first day here and we all had shorts on and no jackets. After lunch we went into the V&A mall and looked for everyone a jacket or sweatshirt and then bought a few groceries for breakfast and snacks. It is so beautiful here and hard to believe we are still in Africa. The groceries are about the same but you can find a few more things that we can not in Luanda but they are sooo much cheaper. A little block of cheddar cheese in Luanda cost us about $10 and here one about 3 times the size is $10. They do drive on the left side of the road here and it is very hard to get used to.
