Day 3 Cape Town

Sunday we took a ferry boat from Cape Town to Robben Island. This is were Nelson Mandela was in prison. They took us on a bus tour of the entire island where people now live and the prison is not operating. The school is still being used and the original post office is being used. After the bus tour we had a walking tour of the prison guided by a man who was actually in the prison with Mandela. We then went to Table Mountain and rode the cable car to the top and looked around and had a cup of Hot Chocolate. It was so cold and windy on the top of the mountain. I am glad we went on Sunday because it has been closed since because of the weather. Usually the top of the mountain is in the clouds. When we got home we took a taxi to canal walk mall and found the golden arches. I never thought I would say it but it tasted so good. I have only been to one other place that I could say McDonalds tasted so good and that was in Mexico. We got a lot of shopping done that we needed to do. We found our driver some tennis shoes, we got some small birthday presents for kids in Luanda, and we got the boys some tennis rackets. We did a little more grocery shopping and even found a Cinnabon where we got some cinnamon rolls for breakfast on Monday. The taxis here are so funny...we got to the mall for 100R and a different guy wanted to charge us 200R to get back to the apartments. We did end up talking him down to 150R.
