Sewing the last week: Apron, water bottle covers, sack holders and a bag.
We went to the fabric store again yesterday and when we turned the corner this is what we saw. I asked Baptista if we should drive down the road and he said, "Yes Madame it will be fine. This car has 4 wheel drive so we might be trying it out today". I always trust Baptista that he will take care of me but I was really questioning him this day. I was able to watch a taxi go through first and they didn't sink so it made me feel a little better.
A couple of weekends ago the boy scouts had a BBQ, raced rockets and received badges they have been working on. Jacobs rocket did really good.
I think the dads had just as much fun as the kids. Kenny and Adam laughing about something.
The boys receiving their ribbons for the rocket race.
Jacob receiving his awards.
He received 2 arrows, and 6 belt loops. He said he was glad I make him do stuff from his book but he would still complain when I make him do it. :-)
Last week I went to Jared's class and helped them make grocery bags to raise money for the spring fair.
This Friday the Year 3 classes had a market to end their unit on markets. They were in groups of 3 and each group had to come up with something to sale. There was paper airplanes, handmade jewelry, cupcakes, drinks and many more things.
Jacobs group did a Cinema. You couple pay 100Kwz($1.00) and get a seat with popcorn and a drink or you could pay 200Kwz and get the luxury seat that included movie, popcorn, drink and a massage.
Jacob taking money and passing out tickets. The movie was funny cats off of YouTube that lasted 5 mins. I was a little worried in the beginning but they ended up with a packed house almost every time the movie started. They sold out of all their popcorn and drinks and ended up just serving water. We made 75 bags of popcorn the night before for their cinema.
The luxury chair!!
Packed!!
They even cleaned up the popcorn. The boys did a great job and ended up making $140 which was the second highest amount raised from the 3 classes. I think as a whole they raised $3,000 in 2 1/2 hours. The money they raised will go to a local orphanage here and they are inviting the kids to come to LIS and tell what they bought with the money.
Last Friday Katie and her husband were kind enough to watch the boys for us so we could have a night out. We started to go to a steak house Kenny had heard about but it didn't look very good from the outside. We ended up going to the Chinese place that Katie and I usually go to and it was a very nice night. The traffic was horrible as always but it gave us time for more conversation. I think we were in traffic for about 2 1/2 hours going and coming and it only took us 40 mins. to eat dinner. :-)
The food was delicious as always.
The view was also good. Sorry for the bad picture, it was hard to explain how to use my phone to the waiter.
Sunday we hung around the house and the boys were playing pirates. Yes Jared is wearing winter clothes in Africa and yes Kenny keeps it cold enough in the house to wear them. :-)
Jacob says he is a pirate...we say he is Tom Sayer!!
I think I am caught up once again!!! I will try and stay caught up.
Today Katie and I were elected to serve on the PTA board next year. I have mixed feelings about it. I think it will be fun and I think we will meet a lot of new people. However, I think we will be very busy and I think I will have to meet a lot of new people. :-) I am hoping this doesn't mean teas and socials but if it does at least I have Katie by my side. If you can not tell I really hate the fake mingling thing.
