We made it home about an hour late yesterday due to delays in leaving from Dubai. I was so ready to be home up until I got to our gate in Dubai. We didn't even have to make sure we were at the right gate because you could tell we were by the peoples attitudes. :-) They call you to board by zones and we are lucky enough to be in one of the first ones since we have kids. However, these people do not know how to listen and always try to be first. They shoved there way to the front of the line just to be told they need to stand aside so the correct people can board. The boys and I were separated from Kenny and he had our boarding passes so they wouldn't let us go. I told the lady that he was stuck because they will not let him through. She finally made every one move so he could get through. We had to wait on a bus to take us to the plane and as the others made their way downstairs instead of waiting at the back of the pack they just made their way to the front of the line once again. They are now first on the bus and when it gets to the plane guess what, they want off first. By now I have decided I would rather just go back to Thailand.
Once on the plane, I noticed it smells like every other place in Luanda, BO!! I have two ladies sitting across the isle from me and I know there is no way I can smell this for 8 hours without getting sick. Thankfully for me a man had the isle seat next to them so I couldn't smell them as bad. I felt really bad for the guy and he actually said to me, "It's going to be a long flight". They were covered up with a blanket so the smell wasn't to strong until they moved around, food serving time. I didn't eat much on the flight to say the least. I found some lotion in my bag and so I was able to put some on my face(nose) and hands several times through out the flight to help with the smell. I was surprised the guy didn't ask to borrow some. He drank a few glasses of wine so maybe that helped with the smell. :-)
Once we landed I was so ready to de-board the plane and get some fresh Luanda air. As we were patiently waiting our turn to exit our seats a man behind us shouted, "let's go". If he only knew what I had been through in the last 12 hours of flying and layovers and more importantly the last 10 hours on this flight he would not have said what he did. On a normal day I would have kept my mouth shut and just continued what I was doing, but not today. I turned around and said, "Be patient I have to let my kids out and there are still people in front of us". After this I made sure the four of us was spread across the walk way so no one could pass us and we walked very slow.
I thought black Friday at Wal-Mart in the states was bad but after living in Luanda black Friday is a piece of cake. The people here are all about themselves and have no care in the world about others. I know I need to go to the states for awhile when I get like this. Only about 60 days or so until we go back for the summer and I can not wait. I have a feeling my patients for these people this next 2 months will be lacking. I will have to make sure I have Katie with me when I go to Shop-Rite or maybe I should just avoid that place until August so I don't end up getting kicked out.
