Maid issues again!!! This seems to be a reoccurring problem for me. I hear of so many people that their maid is like part of their family and I so would love to have that. Going back before vacation Armenda got malaria and her daughter was sick so she was off for a couple of weeks. The week we were to leave for vacation she was going to come back but I told her go ahead and stay home and get better. When we came back a couple of weeks ago she didn't come in on the first day she was to be back. Tuesday she came about 10am and said that she had to go every morning for the next 20 days to get a shot for her malaria. I was good with that and I had my driver remind her of the list on the fridge of the duties she should do daily. She said ok and then only did laundry and a few of the dishes for the day and left and didn't return on Wednesday. For the last week she has came a day and then didn't come and when she did come she only did a couple of things and left. I asked if she was feeling good and her answer was always yes. Yesterday, she was late so we called her and she said she was coming but she never showed. This morning she came at 7:30 and I asked her to wait outside until my driver got here. When Baptista got to the house I had him tell her I didn't need her service anymore. She begged and said she would work all of April and I didn't have to pay her. I told her I wouldn't let her work for free and she hasn't been working when she is here. I told her I was very sorry she has been sick and that I would give her a reference for another job. So now I will suck it up and clean my house until June when our friends from Egypt will be moving and her maid has asked if she can work for me.
Yesterday, Katie and I was going to a fabric store in town and we were watching all the crazy motorcycle drivers go by and she said, "I hope I don't ever see one of those guys crash while I live here". You can image what happened next. We were stopped at a stop light and boom....something hit the side of the car....a motorcycle. He was trying to go between us and a taxi and the taxi opened their door. Ouch!! Baptista got out talked to the guy for a few seconds and the guy got back on his motorcycle and drove off. Baptista said the car was fine and the guys was ok but his leg might be hurting later. :-)
