Kenny usually leaves work at 4pm to beat traffic home and usually makes it by 5pm. Yesterday he didn't get home until 6:30 because they had some traffic stopped. He said he seen a lot of military guys lining the side of the road and then the police went by and some limos and Batista said that is the president of Angola. Starting yesterday until Friday all of the South African Presidents are meeting in Luanda for a meeting and it is held at a conference center in the area of our compound. They say they have a lot of streets closed off in this area and so it makes traffic very very bad. Today Kenny left at 3:30 and made it home in about an hour.
This morning the school bus didn't get here until 7:40 and it usually gets to our house about 7:25. Needless to say the kids got to school right when the bell rang and the driver drove like a bat out of you know what. I noticed there was military around the school area and throughout our area today too. The President lives in Luanda and downtown you always see military standing on some street corners but around here you do not see them very often. I asked our driver today how long the President has been in office and he said 33 years. He said he wonders if he will live to be 100. :-)
