Thankful

I have always been thankful for what we have here in America but I now know just how thankful I am. Last week I was getting my hair cut and one of the ladies was asking if anyone had been to the Dollar General here in town. She was saying how nasty it was and the floor was so dirty and crickets everywhere. She also said something about the checker and how bad he looked. I started laughing and told her how nice that is compared to other places. She knows I live in Africa but it's hard to explain to people exactly what it is like living there. I told her in some of the grocery stores we go to we have to shake off the roaches. If I were at Wal-Mart and I seen a roach I probably wouldn't buy the item but in Angola if you don't by it today it might not be there for a few weeks or months. You must hold your breath when you walk in the store because you know the guards are going to smell like BO. You also have to make sure you wear bug spray when you go grocery shopping because there are more mosquito's in the store than outside. So I am ok with going into a store with a few crickets on the floor because it is pretty normal in my life. Instead of complaining that someone is sweeping around me while I am trying to eat....I am just thankful they are actually sweeping.

Less than 24 hours and we will be heading to Houston to catch a flight to Angola. I will miss it here but I am actually ready to get back on a routine.
